Ingredients for mutton kofta recipe
For making kofta
Mutton minced ½ kg | Onion 1large (finely chopped) |
Dry roasted gram flour 1tsp | Garam masala powder ½ tsp |

For making gravy
Onion 2-3medium | Coriander powder 1tsp |
Thick yogurt 1 cup | Cumin powder ½ tsp |
Turmeric powder ¼ tsp | Salt 1tsp |
Red chili powder 1tsp | Green chilies 3-4 |
Oil 1 cup | Tomatoes 2-3medium |
Ginger & garlic paste ½ tsp | Garam masala powder 1tsp |

Instructions for making mutton kofta recipe
For making koftas
Boil the mutton for koftas with a little salt and ½ cup of water. Mutton becomes soft and if any water remains dry it on low flame.
Now add all the ingredients mentioned above and mix it well.
Now make round, smooth balls. You can add more gram flour (besan) if the mixture is a little too moist.
Heat oil in a nonstick pan and slowly put the mutton koftas and fry them on low flame till they become golden brown.
Put them in an absorbent paper and keep aside.
For making gravy
Put a pot on medium flame and add oil in it. When the oil becomes hot add finely chopped onions in it.

Fry the onions on low flame for 15-20 minutes until they become golden pink. This step gives the real delicious taste to your mutton kofta recipe. Never grind the onions to make a paste otherwise you cannot obtain a real taste.
Now add ginger& garlic paste in it and fry until raw smell goes off.
At this point add red chili powder, turmeric powder along with salt and mix it well. Keep the flame low otherwise spices will burn.
Now add finely chopped tomatoes in it.
Now beat the yogurt well so that no lumps remain and add it to the spice mixture. Keep stirring it continuously for 5-8 minutes.
At this stage add cumin powder, coriander powder along with garam masala.
Now add 1 to 2 cup water depending on how thick you want your gravy. Keep stirring till the gravy comes to a boil.
Now slowly put the mutton koftas in it and keep the flame low.
Lower the flame and allows the koftas to simmer for another8-10 minutes. You will see a thin layer of oil on the top of the gravy which means your mutton kofta recipe is ready.
Now add green chilies and fresh coriander along with boiled eggs (optional).
